What will we find in this excursion?
Today, the AWF will be going over the geographic centre of the country. The coll d’Ordino road has been traditionally used to connect both Andorra’s two main valleys, the “Valira del Nord” and the “Valira d' Orient”. All the excursions held today will start and finish in this area. Roc del Quer viewpoint is a recently built plattform, 20 metres long, 12 of which are suspended in the space, with around 500 metres vertical depth. Due to its spectacularity, it has become a must see in Andorra. The CASAMANYA peak, 2.752 metres height, is a well known spot for all the Andorrans. Besides being considered the geographical centre of the country, it might be the most climbed mountain every year, either hiking or with skiis.
Roc del Quer viewpoint - Arenes Hill - Casamanyes - Coll d'Ordino - Mereig
We will start the outing with a visit to Roc del Quer Viewpoint. Then, we will be heading to the Montaup valley, of glacier origin, getting to the coll d’Arenes. From here and for a climb during moments a little technical , we will reach the CASAMANYES. The massif is composed by three peaks: the Casamanya Nord (North), Mig (Middle) Peak and the Casamanya Sud (South). From the geographical centre of the Principality, we will enjoy a 360 degrees panoramic view. This area stands out for being the only one in Andorra of calcareous origin, a feature that provides the land with a whitish and schist colour, which sets it apart from the surrounding the mountains. A quick descent will take us down to the coll d’Ordino, and from there, along a small path, we wilfinish our excursion in the Mereig plains.

We will start the outing with a visit to Roc del Quer Viewpoint. Later, going up the Coms way, we'll get to the coll d’Ordino, starting point of one of the most classical climbs in Andorra, the CASAMANYA peak from the coll d’Ordino. In addition to be the geographical centre of the Principality, this summit offers 360 degree panoramic views. A quick descent along the same climbing itinerary will take us will take us to the Mereig plains, where we will finish today's excursion.
Roc del Quer viewpoint - Coll d'Ordino - Tomb de les Neres way - Mereig
As in the other levels, we will start the day with the visit to the viewpoint of the Roc del Quer. After this visit, we will take the interparroquial tomb de les neres way which leaves from coll d’Ordino. This way has the peculiarity of passing through four of the seven parishes that the Principality has. The excursion lasts for three hours, and the whole time we will be walking inside the forest and maintaining the height, between 1.900 and 2.000 m, something that makes this outing very pleasant and easy to perform. The initial forest belongs to Canillo; then, we will go across Encamp land, with excellent overviews to Engolasters lake and the Pardines way. As a highlight, the return to the starting point goes along a forest that belongs to the Ordino parish (municipality), with trees up to 24 metres height.
